Government rail report: passenger experience ‘woeful’

Resolver.co.uk welcomes today’s report from the Transport Select Committee, which highlighted the “woeful” experience of passengers on Southern trains

The report criticised Southern owners Govia Thameslink Rail and the RMT union – who are locked in a bitter argument over the future role of conductors – as well as the Government, noting that “passengers have borne the brunt” of this prolonged dispute.

The committee also told Government Ministers to “get a grip” on monitoring rail franchise agreements generally – finding overcrowding, delays, cancellations, complex ticketing and a lack of access for disabled passengers across the rail network.
