Bet365 is one of the UK’s biggest online gambling companies, offering sports betting, casino games, poker and bingo. With so many customers placing bets and moving money through the platform, things do not always go smoothly. The most common issues raised about Bet365 through Resolver relate to accounts, gambling transactions and the complaints process. Customers report problems withdrawing money, completing verification checks, accessing restricted or closed accounts and resolving disputes over settled or voided bets.
Gambling complaints can be particularly confusing because the usual consumer complaint routes do not always apply. The Gambling Commission regulates gambling businesses, but it does not resolve individual disputes or award compensation.
Here is how to deal with some of the most common Bet365 complaints.
Delayed or blocked withdrawals
Few things are more frustrating than seeing money in your betting account but being unable to withdraw it. You may find that a withdrawal is delayed, rejected or returned to your account, sometimes because further identity or payment checks are required.
Bet365 says your account must be fully verified before you can withdraw money. It will normally try to return funds to the method used to make your deposit. If that is not possible, it may ask you to provide bank details and complete a Confirmation of Payee check. These checks can be a legitimate part of preventing fraud and money laundering.
However, Bet365 should still communicate clearly, tell you what information it needs and avoid unnecessary delays.
What you should do
First, check your account and emails to see whether Bet365 has requested any documents. Make sure your bank account is in your name and that the personal details on your betting and bank accounts match.
If the delay continues, ask Bet365 to confirm:
- Why your withdrawal has been stopped
- Which checks remain outstanding
- Whether you need to provide any more documents
- When you can expect your money to be released
Keep screenshots showing your balance and withdrawal status, along with copies of any documents you submit. Take care when sharing sensitive information and only upload it through Bet365’s official website or app.
If you receive no clear explanation or the delay becomes unreasonable, raise a formal complaint through Resolver.
Account verification problems
Betting businesses must verify their customers and may ask you for proof of your identity, address, payment method or source of funds. Problems can arise when documents are rejected without a clear explanation, when you are repeatedly asked for the same information or when additional checks begin after you request a withdrawal. Bet365 may be entitled or required to carry out these checks, but you can still expect it to explain what information it needs and handle the process fairly and securely.
What you should do
Submit clear, current documents showing the same details registered on your account. If a document is rejected, ask Bet365 for the precise reason rather than repeatedly uploading different versions. Make a note of when you sent each document and keep any confirmation messages. If the process stalls, ask for the matter to be reviewed by the verification team and request a written explanation of what is preventing approval.
Never send identity documents to an address provided in an unsolicited message. If you are unsure whether a request is genuine, contact Bet365 through its official website or app.
Restricted, suspended or closed accounts
Bet365 may restrict or close your account for several reasons, including security concerns, verification problems, suspected breaches of its terms or a commercial decision about whether to continue accepting your business. A betting company can generally decide whether it wants to continue offering you its services. This means you may not be able to force Bet365 to reopen your account simply because you disagree with its decision.
However, closing or restricting your account should not automatically remove your entitlement to money already held in it or winnings from valid bets. You can also challenge the cancellation of bets or withholding of funds if you believe Bet365 has applied its terms incorrectly.
What you should do
Ask Bet365 to confirm in writing:
- Whether the restriction is temporary or permanent
- What you need to do to withdraw your remaining balance
- Whether your open bets will remain valid
- Which term or rule it has relied on when cancelling a bet or withholding money
Save screenshots of your balance, transaction history and open bets as soon as you notice the restriction.
If you believe someone else has accessed your account, change the password on your email account as well as any other account where you used the same login details. You should also contact your bank immediately if you spot any payments you do not recognise.
An independent dispute service may not consider a complaint simply because a bookmaker has refused your future business. However, it may consider whether Bet365 unfairly cancelled previously accepted bets or wrongly withheld your money.
Disputed, voided or incorrectly settled bets
Disputes can arise when Bet365 settles your bet as a loss, voids it or pays out at odds you did not expect. This can happen where betting rules cover abandoned events, obvious pricing errors, player participation, cash-out offers or complicated accumulators and multiple bets.
The important question is usually whether Bet365 applied the rules that were in force when you placed the bet. A disappointing outcome is not enough on its own, but you may have grounds to complain if it applied the wrong rule, changed its explanation or settled the bet inconsistently.
What you should do
Take screenshots of your bet slip, the odds, market description, result and settlement. Check the relevant Bet365 sports rules and quote the exact rule you believe supports your complaint. Explain what happened in chronological order and state how you believe the bet should have been settled.
If Bet365 says there was an error, ask it to identify that error and the term allowing it to void or recalculate your bet. Avoid relying solely on another bookmaker’s decision. Different operators can use different rules and data sources when settling bets.
Bonus and promotional offer disputes
Free bets, enhanced odds and welcome promotions often come with detailed conditions. You may discover that a bonus has not been credited, your winnings have been restricted or your account has been excluded from an offer. Common sticking points include minimum odds, qualifying payment methods, wagering requirements, expiry dates and restrictions on which markets count towards a promotion.
What you should do
Save the advert and the full promotional terms when you opt in. Offers can change or disappear, so screenshots may be important if you later need to prove what was advertised. Check whether you met every qualifying condition, then ask Bet365 to identify the specific term it believes you failed to satisfy.
If an important restriction was hidden, unclear or contradicted by the main advert, include that in your complaint. You can also report potentially misleading gambling advertising to the Advertising Standards Authority, although the ASA will not usually recover your money for you.
Customer service and complaint-handling problems
You may find yourself explaining the same issue to several agents, receiving inconsistent answers or struggling to move beyond live chat. A conversation with customer support does not necessarily become a formal complaint automatically. If ordinary contact has not resolved the problem, clearly state that you want Bet365 to record the matter as a formal complaint.
Bet365 says it aims to respond to complaints within 48 hours. If its first response does not resolve your issue, you can ask for the complaint to be escalated to a senior member of its customer service team for a final response.
How to make your complaint effective
Include your username or registered email address, your full name and a clear description of what went wrong. Set out the relevant dates, bets, transactions and amounts, and explain what you want Bet365 to do.
That might mean:
- Releasing your account balance
- Correcting a bet settlement
- Paying valid winnings
- Restoring access to your account
- Explaining why a decision was made
Keep your complaint focused. A short timeline supported by screenshots, chat transcripts and transaction records is usually more useful than a long account without dates or evidence.
What if Bet365 does not resolve your complaint?
If you are unhappy with Bet365’s final response, or it has not resolved your complaint within eight weeks, it should provide a complaint reference so you can approach the Independent Betting Adjudication Service, known as IBAS. IBAS is a free alternative dispute resolution service. It can consider disputes about bets, games, payments and other gambling transactions, including whether Bet365 applied its rules and terms correctly.
However, IBAS will not normally deal with complaints solely about poor customer service, a refusal to accept your bets or a bookmaker’s decision not to continue offering you an account. It also does not generally consider claims that a business allowed you to gamble irresponsibly unless there is a contractual element to the dispute. Complaints about the effectiveness of self-exclusion systems should instead be reported to the Gambling Commission.
The Gambling Commission explains that it does not resolve individual gambling transactions or award compensation. You can still report concerns that could indicate a wider regulatory failure, including problems involving self-exclusion, underage gambling, unfair games or social responsibility. Your report may help the Commission identify patterns and decide whether regulatory action is necessary. You usually need to complete Bet365’s complaint process before IBAS can consider your dispute.
Final tips for resolving a Bet365 complaint

- Be specific: Include dates, times, amounts and bet reference numbers.
- State the outcome you want: Make it clear what Bet365 needs to do to resolve your complaint.
- Make the complaint formal: If customer support cannot help, say clearly that you want to begin the formal complaints process.
